New Clinton email exposed information from human intelligence; may have risked lives

Two sources confirmed to Fox News chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge that at least one of the emails contained on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private, non-secure server contained a human intelligence source working in an ongoing operation, identified as “HCS-O.”

“The HSC-0 compartment (Operations) is used to protect exceptionally fragile and unique IC (intelligence community) clandestine HUMINT (human intelligence) operations and methods that are not intended for dissemination outside of the originating agency,” according to a December 2013 policy document released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Fox News reported:

It is not publicly known whether the information contained in the Clinton emails also revealed who the human source was, their nationality or affiliation.

Dan Maguire, former Special Operations strategic planner for Africom, told Fox News the disclosure of sensitive material impacts national security and exposes U.S. sources.

“There are people’s lives at stake. Certainly in an intel SAP (Special Access Program), if you’re talking about sources and methods, there may be one person in the world that would have access to the type of information contained in that SAP,” Maguire told Fox News.

Fox News reported Tuesday on the discovery of Special Access Programs on Clinton’s server, which have a security designator greater than Top Secret, and only those who have a genuine need to know can have access to them.

“These are the crown jewels of the American intelligence community,” former CIA agent Charles Faddis told Fox News. “If this information is compromised, we’re going to suffer very serious national security damage. People are going to die, quite frankly.”

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates opined to conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt Thursday that in all probability, nations such as Russia, China and Iran have hacked into Clinton’s server.

Gates told Hewitt that he based his assessment on “the fact that the Pentagon acknowledges that it gets attacked about a hundred thousand times a day.”
