First traveler to use chip IMPLANT to get through airport security

implant1The future has arrived in what may be a new way to travel.

With a flick of his wrist, a Dutch traveler waved an implanted chip in his hand at the airport, taking him from check-in to his seat on the plane without ever needing to show any paperwork.

Andreas Sjöström became the first traveler to use the new wireless technology to breeze through to his flight at the Stockholm Arlanda airport without a ticket or identification, according to the Daily Mail.

“It gave me a new sensation, sort of pre-notion of what it will be like in the future when we don’t have to reach out with physical objects to accomplish things,” Sjöström said in video he made, taking viewers along for the ride as he had the near-field communication chip implanted in his hand.

Sjöström, vice president of digital for technology consulting at Sogeti, said the process of implanting the chip was painless. The chip used in the video was an xNT implant from the company, Dangerous Things, which actually sells the kits with all the needed supplies to implant in your own home.

The chip in Sjöström’s hand-held his Scandinavian Airlines EuroBonus member ID so he did not need the traditional boarding pass in the airport which is equipped with NFC readers all the way from security to the gate, reported the Mail.

“I’ve tried it with public transportation solutions, I’ve connected it to NFC-enabled door lock systems in offices,” Sjöström said. “I’ve succeeded with some and not with others. But if no one experiments, no one will find this out.”
