The notion that President Obama lives in a fantasy world of his own creation was confirmed when he told NBC News that America faces no “existential threats.”
NBC’s Matt Lauer told the president during an interview that aired Tuesday on the “Today” show that the words he hears most often from Americans are fear, frustration and fatigue.
“Any of those words surprise you?” he asked.
Although he admitted that “we are still battling terrorism,” he added, “it is sometimes important for people to step back and measure how far we have come. The economy right now is better than any other economy in the world by a significant margin. We remain the strongest nation on earth by far and there are no existential threats facing us.”
Then he implied that his policies were making for an easy term for his successor.
“If we make some good choices now, whoever the next president is, whoever is controlling the next Congress there, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t own the 21st century,” he said.

Later, MSNBC’s Jose Diaz-Balart straight-out asked White House spokesperson Jen Psaki about Obama’s comments.
“What about ISIS?” he asked, “Republicans argue that ISIS does represent an existential threat.”
After briefly boasting about the president’s ‘accomplishments,’ Psaki went into attack-dog mode.
“If you listen to [Republicans], the country is headed toward doom and gloom, we’re headed toward really a negative future over the next five to ten years. The president absolutely doesn’t believe that,” she said.
Not letting her off the hook, Diaz-Balart pressed further on whether or not the president deems ISIS an “existential threat.”
With an epic non-answer that could go down in the history books, Psaki replied, “I think the president believes that American power, American leadership needs to be used to yes, fight terrorists, but also to take advantage of opportunities.”
“There are issues like climate change, like trade, that are really important for us to address as we lead the world globally,” she added.
