A Burlington, Vermont deli owner thought he could capitalize on a recent appearance by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump by offering a sandwich dedicated to the businessman called the “Bologna Special.”
They didn’t sell a single one, all of which goes to show that either it was overpriced, or local residents thought that what Trump delivers isn’t a bunch of bologna at all.
The Associated Press reported:
The sandwich was on sale for $20.16 at the Kountry Kart Deli, next door to the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts. Trump appeared there Thursday.
The Trump sandwich is bologna on white bread with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, deli mustard and bacon slices, abbreviated B.S.
The B.S. — cute.
If the sandwich insult wasn’t enough of a clue that this joint leaned liberal, the tip jars gave it away, for sure.
Two tip jars were placed on the counter, one for Trump and the other for Burlington’s favorite son, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.
At the end of the day, the Trump jar reportedly collected $6.70 to Sanders’ $120.
Most of the deli’s other sandwiches sell for between $6 and $10.
