Has she hit her head again? Hillary tells CBS she’s the real ‘outsider’ candidate

clinton-cbsIn her first Sunday talk show interview since 2011, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton stated an opinion that was so far removed from reality it could almost be called a lie.

And the social media world howled.

On CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” Hillary said she “can’t imagine anyone being more of an outsider than” she is.

Program host John Dickerson first broached the subject of insider versus outsider candidates.

“Everybody wants an outsider, and that kind of puts you in a fix,” Dickerson began.

When Clinton cackled and disagreed, Dickerson asked for her reasoning.

“I can’t imagine anyone being more of an outsider than the first woman president. I mean really. Think about that,” Clinton said.

“If you line up — I have all these mothers and fathers bring me placements with all the presidents, and they bring me their daughters and they say, ‘my daughter has a question for you,’” she continued. “And they say, ‘How come there are no girls on the place mats?’ I think that would be a pretty unconventional choice.”

An outsider in account of her sex?

Clinton spent eight years as first lady, an additional eight years as a U.S. senator representing New York, and four years as secretary of state. Not to mention the three years she has spent since leaving the State Department, schmoozing with the rich and powerful and preparing for her own run to return to the White House.

That’s 23 years — and counting — of living, working and scheming at the highest levels of power inside the capital Beltway. If that doesn’t make her the ultimate Washington, D.C. insider, nothing does.

And if she’s going to attribute an outsider status to being a woman, then she certainly isn’t the ultimate outsider — that status would go to Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, who’s never held public office — in Washington or anywhere else.

The closest she got to being an “insider” was as an adviser to Sen. John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, and as a challenger to  incumbent Democrat Sen. Barbara Boxer in the deep blue state of California.

A CNN/ORC International poll released Sunday shows that Fiorina has leaped from 3 percent support among Republican voters earlier this month to 15 percent, bringing her in second place.

Due to continuing scandals with her emails while in office, use of a private server and mounting questions about her handling of the attack in Benghazi, Libya, Hillary’s favorability has been steadily tanking.

She’s even trailing self-avowed socialist (and Democrat contender) Sen. Bernie Sanders in Iowa, the first Democratic presidential caucus state, as well as New Hampshire, the nation’s first Democratic presidential primary state.

Nationally, however, Clinton is still maintaining a lead.

For the moment.

Watch the clip, then check out the disbelief that greeted her statement on social media. The statement reminded more than one user than Hillary had suffered a concussion from a fall back in 2012. Could something like that have happened again?

Herself, maybe.
