President Obama continues to make his hugely unpopular executive immigration action even worse – now by willfully ignoring illegal immigrants with criminal records.
To be clear … that’s criminal activity that goes beyond entering the United States illegally.
The newly emerging part of Obama’s amnesty has been named the “Priority Enforcement Program,” according to the Washington Times.
“Agents can still troll jails and prisons, but are told to no longer go after illegal immigrants with offenses such as drug possession, theft or fraud if it involved stealing an identity to try to further their unlawful presences in the U.S., according to details of the policy released Tuesday by the House Judiciary Committee.
Even some illegal immigrants who are charged with serious felonies but are released by local authorities won’t be picked up by immigration agents until they are convicted, the committee said.”
The PEP program is a replacement for the Bush administration’s “Secure Communities” program that scoured prisons and jails to focus on targeting criminals in an effort to boost deportation numbers, the Times reported.
“President Obama is needlessly endangering our communities,” Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said, according to the Times. “It’s past time for the Obama administration to get its priorities straight and protect the American people instead of their political interests.”

But immigration activists argue that “Secure Communities” poisoned relations between police and Hispanics. They said Obama’s more criminal-friendly PEP program will heal those relations, and leaders in so-called sanctuary cities are the most pleased by the change.
News of the PEP program comes on the heels of an investigation from Memphis, Tenn., that found ICE is releasing roughly 100 criminal aliens a day into U.S. cities.
In 2013, 36,000 criminals were released into the U.S. because their native countries refuse to take them back, according to Fox 13.

The list of criminals in the Fox 13 report include killers, drug dealers, and sex offenders. One such sex offender was set free in East Memphis, and according to the report, ICE officials aren’t keeping track of criminal whereabouts.
“At least if they were keeping track of them, we would know what they were doing,” said Whitten Bell, who lives in the 38119 zip code where the sex offender was released in 2013.
“There’s got to be something we can do. If it’s a legal issue, make it legal and do something else with them.”
With the new PEP program taking hold, stricter enforcement on illegals with criminal backgrounds seems highly unlikely.
