Bishop E.W. Jackson didn’t mince words when delivering a message for the Rev. Al Sharpton on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” Tuesday.
“He needs to march right back to New York and go back to MSNBC, whatever place he chooses to espouse his demagoguery,” Jackson said.
Jackson was responding to a two-day march Sharpton vowed to organize from Baltimore to Washington, D.C.
“I have been asked by many in the Baltimore area since day one to get involved in the justice for Freddie Gray movement,” Sharpton said in a statement.
Jackson, who is based in Chesapeake, Va., does not want to see the extremely tense situation in Baltimore escalate, and warns that will happen if Sharpton is allowed to use the chaotic scene for his own self-interest.
He also criticized President Obama for reportedly telling Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan of Maryland to use restraint when dealing with protesters.
“What about restraint against attacking police officers?” Jackson asked.
Jackson pointed out what he calls the irony of the Baltimore riots unfolding under a hierarchy of black leadership from President Obama, to the U.S. attorney general down to Baltimore’s mayor.
Jackson said, it tells you something is “truly wrong with that leadership and Al Sharpton represents that leadership.”
“The good people in Baltimore need to stand up and tell these folks, ‘you don’t represent us, Al Sharpton, you don’t represent us.’”
