Obamabots’ Twitter jab at Netanyahu backfires

The White House has just brought the discord that exists between President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu down to the gutter level — it engaged in the juvenile practice of trolling on social media.

But what it really got in return was scorn.

Everyone remembers the Israeli leader’s speech before the United Nations in 2012, where he highlighted the dangers his country would face if Iran got a nuclear bomb. His address was widely mocked — not because of the point he was making, but because he chose a cartoon depiction of a bomb to make his point.

The White House’s official Twitter account chose to mock Netanyahu one more time Wednesday by using his same bomb illustration to promote the president’s non-deal deal he had made with Iran.

Not only has Netanyahu been highly critical of the outline as set forth for for future negotiations, but so have U.S. lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle.

Indeed, when the outline was announced, the people of Iran were seen celebrating in the streets — sanctions that have crippled its economy were to be lifted, and they could continue enriching nuclear material almost unabated.

The White House tweeted Wednesday:

Wikipedia defines an Internet troll as “a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community with the deliberate intent of provoking readers.”

That certainly applies to this tweet. It’s trying to sell others on the Iranian nuke deal by openly mocking Netanyahu.

Anyone who routinely publishes political-oriented posts on social media has been the victim of trolling, and the best advice is to ignore the trolls. But while Bibi turned his back to it, his supporters were totally engaged and loaded for bear.

And there’s good reason for that distrust. The moment Obama began touting the deal, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said the administration was lying about details of the tentative agreement’s framework, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

What’s more troubling is that while the treaty nations were hammering out an outline for a deal in Lausanne, Switzerland, Iran’s supreme leader was shouting “Death to America” to a crowd in Tehran.
