Fox News host Harris Faulkner drew a connection between President Obama’s rampant selfie antics and the growing number of clueless youth taking selfies in highly inappropriate places.
On “Outnumbered” Monday, Faulkner said the president has lowered the cultural bar with inappropriate behavior and that it’s natural for America’s younger generation to follow suit.
The show’s panel discussed the incident where gawkers took smiling selfies in front of a burning building in New York City’s East Village Thursday. Two people were missing at the time and 25 more were injured from the explosion.
Co-host Jedidiah Bila mentioned several more selfie incidents, including a young girl taking one at Auschwitz and asked the panel, “What is wrong with people? …What is happening in society?”
“Yeah, but the president does it,” Faulkner said.
Crickets from the panelists…
“You’ve got a whole new generation,” Faulkner went on.
“You got a bar that’s moving now. That, that gold standard isn’t where it used to be. You’ve got a, you’ve got on a weekend we’re talking Islamic State, we’re talking all sorts of things, and you’ve got a president with a selfie stick that’s as tall as I am taking pictures.”
Obama has become known for taking gratuitous pictures of himself while the world burns and cemented his selfie-legacy with a mortifying Buzzfeed video.

“But that’s different than a selfie in front of a burning building though,” guest host Ed Henry said.
Faulkner clarified her statement, but didn’t let Obama off the hook.
“I’m not blaming President Obama,” Faulkner said. “I’m just saying that it’s not happening in a vacuum. … You have people in positions of authority doing all sorts of silly stuff with selfies.”
Co-host Tantaros agreed and pinpointed the underlying issue.
“I mean it’s the selfish selfie, hence the word ‘selfie,’ self-celebration generation, right?” Tantaros said.
“There’s no such thing as TMI (too much information), as Lena Dunham says. Everything is important. So if everything is important then nothing’s important, right?”
Tantaros also agreed that the bar has been moved so low, “we’re tripping over it.”
