When it comes to battling Islamic State terrorists, Jordan is proving it means business.
The country’s interior minister, Hussein al-Majali, said Jordan plans to “wipe them out completely,” the New York Post reported Saturday.
The comments came on the heels of another round of airstrikes by the Jordanian air force that hit Islamic State targets Thursday and Friday, the Post reported.
Al-Majali told the state-run al-Rai newspaper that the burning death of Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kaseasbeh was a turning point.
The country is now determined to go after Islamic State jihadists “wherever they are,” and the recent airstrikes are “the beginning of a continued process to eliminate them and wipe them out completely,” he added.
Jordan has tightened security for “anyone who wants to interfere in the security of Jordan” amid concerns that the offensive may trigger terror attacks in the country, Al-Majali said.
