Is Romney teeing up to run again? Ask Ann Coulter

At least one conservative is urging former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney to give it one more go. Although he’s repeatedly nixed the notion of a 2016 campaign, author and commentator Ann Coulter is reminding him of the adage, “The third time’s a charm.”

Coulter, a longtime critic of illegal immigration, said during an appearance on The Howie Carr Radio Show that the former Massachusetts governor has the strongest position on the issue, according to Breitbart News.

“Well, don’t tell him but I’m planning on giving Mitt Romney a little more time to rest — flying out, kidnapping him and depriving him of sleep, food and water until he agrees to run again,” she said.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is “a lot worse on immigration,” Coulter said when Carr mentioned the congressman’s name.

“He has the same position a lot of these idiots have,” she added. “’Oh, yes, let them come here, and we have a special permit, we just won’t give them citizenship. But we want to increase guest workers.’”

Romney distinguished himself on the issue, Coulter said, calling him “the best on immigration of any candidate in my lifetime with the possible exception of Ronald Reagan, but he was hoodwinked in passing that amnesty.”

Meanwhile, FoxNews.com reported that despite Romney’s repeated insistence that he won’t run in 2016, he’s been appearing on TV news shows with greater frequency.

Fox News reported:

Still, no potential 2016 presidential candidate has yet to say whether he or she will run, including presumptive Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, who up until last year also said she was done with public office.

Surveys by the group pollingreport.com found Romney’s favorability among Americans has climbed steadily since his November 2012 loss to President Obama, with his February 14 rating at 47 percent.

“He very well could [run again,] but it doesn’t seem likely,” Republican strategist Ron Bonjean told Fox News. “You’ll likely find that he’ll be most effective using his political and business savvy on the outside, rather than the inside.”

But, Bonjean added, Romney would make “a prime candidate for Treasury secretary.”

Just don’t tell Coulter. She’s busy putting together rope, duct tape and a getaway van for a kidnapping.
