Ted Nugent apologizes for ‘subhuman mongrel’ language, but ‘not necessarily’ to Obama

Responding to blowback he’s received for calling President Barack Obama a “subhuman mongrel” who was “communist-educated,” rock legend Ted Nugent has apologized — sort of.

“I do apologize – not necessarily to the president – but on behalf of much better men than myself, like the best governor in America, Gov. Rick Perry, [and] the best attorney general in America, Greg Abbott,” Nugent said Friday in a radio interview with WBAP Dallas radio host Ben Ferguson. “I apologize for using the street fighter terminology, like ‘subhuman mongrel,’ instead of just using more understandable language such as ‘violator of his oath to the Constitution. I apologize for using the term. I will try to elevate my vernacular to the level of those great men that I’m learning from in the world of politics.”

The “apology” came a month after Nugent raised eyebrows with comments he made about Obama at the Las Vegas Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show.

“I have obviously failed to galvanize and prod, if not shame enough Americans to be ever vigilant not to let a Chicago communist-raised, communist-educated, communist-nurtured, subhuman mongrel like the ACORN community organizer gangster Barack Hussein Obama to weasel his way into the top office of authority in the United States of America,” Nugent said then, according to Breitbart News.

Conservative politicians like Texas Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., have since condemned Nugent’s choice of words. Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott also came under fire for using Nugent in public events in his gubernatorial bid. Abbott has since dropped the outspoken rocker from his campaign.
