Conservative talk radio host Mark Levin proposed that “We must go back to the Constitution to save the Constitution” during his appearance Friday at the Values Voters Summit in Washington, D.C.
He used recent actions by the president, Congress and the Supreme Court as examples of a tyrannical, out-of-control government
Levin said that according to founder George Mason, “when Congress turns oppressive, private citizens must have a recourse short of violence.” And the answer is contained within the Constitution itself. “That recourse is in the people and the state legislatures,” according to Levin.
He proposed that 34 states, on their own, pass amendments to the Constitution to get the country pointed back in the proper direction.
“Some of you are saying, ‘Well, this is great for those of you who are in purple states and red states.’ And my answer to you is this: America is a blue state right now,” he emphasized.
“And the only way to address this is to find 34 state legislatures, and to take the time to do it. It took us a century to get here and so it may take us 20 or 30 years get out of this.”
He left the audience with one final, sobering thought.
“If you have one out-of-control Supreme Court, one out-of-control Congress and one out-of-control president, there’s no where to go!”
