For New Black Panthers, ‘justice’ means death for Zimmerman

Demonstrators outside the George Zimmerman murder trial have been carrying signs demanding “Justice for Trayvon,” and chanting, “No justice, no peace.”

On Friday, one ranking member of the New Black Panther Party made clear outside the Seminole County Courthouse exactly what his group means by “justice” for shooting victim Trayvon Martin.

newblackpanther“Anything less than death for George Zimmerman is not justice,” Kojo Kayrallah, who identified himself as the New Black Panther Party’s “chief of staff” for Florida, said in an interview with the Daily Caller.

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in the death of the 17-year-old Martin during a February 2011 confrontation. The harshest legal sentence he could receive is 30 years in prison.

But what about a harsher sentence? Like Zimmerman’s killing at the hands of a prison vigilante?

“Praise be to God,” Kayrallah said of the prospect.

Those aren’t idle words. This is the same chapter of the New Black Panther Party, based in Jacksonville, Fla., that put a $10,000 “dead-or-alive” bounty on Zimmerman’s head during protests demanding his arrest, according to the Daily Caller. So the group has wanted Zimmerman dead from the beginning.

And it’s a good bet the organization has more than a few friends and followers in the Florida prison system.

So while the jury deliberates, anybody who’s not clear about what a conviction could mean for Zimmerman – what “justice for Trayvon” could mean – can find out pretty quickly.

Just ask the New Black Panthers.
