Florida’s Governor Rick Scott recently took to the Twitterverse to weigh in on the shocking testimony a Planned Parenthood representative offered last week to Florida House members.
A Florida House committee was considering a bill that would require both medical care and legal protection to any child born as the result of a botched abortion.
The representative stated it was OK, in Planned Parenthood’s opinion, to end a baby’s life in such instances.
The decision to end the baby’s life or not “should be between the patient and the health care provider,” she said.
Rep. Jose Oliva asked “I think that at that point, the patient would be the child struggling on the table. Wouldn’t you agree?”
“That’s a very good question. I really don’t know how to answer that,” she said.
It seems as though everyone has weighed in on this issue since that testimony, including Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly and his guests Democrat Kirsten Powers and Republican Kate Obenshain on Wednesday night.
“People find this an uncomfortable thing to hear,” Powers stated, “but aborting a baby that late in the term is infanticide.”
Thursday, Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn. sent a letter to Planned Parenthood asking the organization to “fully repudiate” the killing of babies who survive abortion. She has also introduced legislation, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act – to defund abortion businesses.
Most recently, Gov. Scott offered both his opinion and his thanks to the Republican representatives who questioned the Planned Parenthood representative.
