MSNBC says push-back at Bloomberg explained by anti-Semitism

Political commentator Mike Barnicle and MSNBC host Al Sharpton agree that opposition to NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s push for strict gun control legislation is all due to anti-Semitism.

On MSNBC’s Monday edition of “Morning Joe,” conversation turned to the massive anti-gun campaign being waged by Bloomberg. Former Romney adviser Dan Senor observed the outspoken mayor was “galvanizing the Second Amendment rights community” by using personal funds to bankroll his campaign.

“The fact that he has put himself as the face of this — a big city, blue state mayor, telling these senators in red states what they should be doing and their constituents in those states, I think is not constructive,” Senor explained.

Barnicle disagreed. He saw a more sinister explanation for the push-back.

“Let’s get down to it, Mike Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City,” Barnicle said. “I mean, there’s a level of anti-Semitism in this thing, directed toward Bloomberg.”

“There’s no doubt about it,” agreed Sharpton. This was music to his ears.

Senor, however, was having none of it.

“I think it’s the perception of big city, urban elites — wealthy, you know, elites telling the rest of the little people how to live their lives.”

Sharpton wouldn’t let go. After the race card is dealt, he plays it to the end.

“But if he were not a big-city Jewish man, in some parts I think it would be different,” he said.
