Muslim extremists and President Obama have something in common: They both suffer from tenues cutis — thin skin. And if they want to make it in today’s world, they better develop some calluses or turn their back on civilization and become monks.
Late last month, a Washington middle school teacher was accused of making anti-Muslim remarks in class, and now the Council on American-Islamic Relations, better known as CAIR, is asking the Justice Department to make a federal case out of it.
The actual incident was alleged to have occurred on Oct. 29, 2012, and came to light when a student complained to her father about alleged inflammatory anti-Muslim comments made by the teacher, Mary Janda, according to FrontPage Magazine.
The Concrete, Wash., School District denies the allegations, calling the matter a misunderstanding.
“I explained to her [the student] that I was not talking about Muslims and Arabs in general but groups that chose to impose their will by training people to intimidate and kill other people,” Janda told Frontpage. “This discussion is not about religious beliefs. It is related to a state mandate that public schools teach students about bullying and not allow it.”
“Her offense?” Lebanese American journalist Brigitte Gabriel said in FrontPageNews,com. “During a class discussion on bullying, she referred to Hamas and the Taliban as examples of organizations that use violence to ‘bully people.’”
Gabriel is an author and activist critical of Islam as an enemy of Western civilization.
CAIR, on the other hand, has been connected to Hamas, the Taliban, the Muslim Brotherhood and even al-Qaida.
“High ranking members of CAIR have been imprisoned for committing terrorist related crimes, such as providing explosives and weapons to known terrorists, funding their organizations, etc.,” The Examiner reported.
The teacher, who has since retired, called the CAIR allegations excessive, saying its complaint was premature.
“I am also surprised that the organization (CAIR) filing the complaint did not contact me to hear my account of the class discussion before publicly criticizing me and my employer,” Janda told FrontPageMag. “I had absolutely no intention or nor did I disparage anyone’s religious beliefs and I regret any lingering misunderstandings.”
The federal court system cannot and should not punish every slight, either real or imagined, nor should it prop up every bruised ego or wipe every runny nose ascending the courthouse steps. It’s what we call life, and with life should come the realization that not everyone in the world loves us, no matter how much we may want them to. Get over it and move on. That goes for both CAIR and Obama.
