Bob Edgar, president of Common Cause, a left leaning public advocacy group, called on President Obama to shut down “Organizing For Action,” amid claims of influence peddling — that its large donors will receive special access to the president.
He appeared on “America Live” and talked to host Megyn Kelly.
“Obama was the first president since Watergate not to accept the public financing system that was put in place to protect us against millions of dollars of corruption,” he observed. “Now we’re in a setting where billions of dollars are being provided to get access — whether its on the conservative side or the liberal side.”
Kelly played a clip of then-Senator Obama when he said, “They write the checks while you get stuck with the bill. They get the access while you get to write a letter. They think they own this government, but we’re here today to take it back.”
“I want President Obama to listen to his own words,” Edgar responded.
