Late night host Conan O’Brien reportedly stopped guests from calling 911 when the Reiner family — including actor Rob Reiner, his wife Michele, and his son Nick — got into a huge argument at the TV host’s holiday party last Sunday.
“They got in an argument, the father and son [at the party],” an insider told the Daily Mail. “It got so bad and loud [that] someone wanted to call the police to report it. But Conan stepped in and said, ‘It’s my house, my party, I’m not calling the police.’ He talked them out of calling the police.”

“When the s–t was hitting the fan, somebody said, ‘We need to call the police,’” another insider said. “The conversation was about getting this kid put into a mental-health hold. It makes sense; who wants the cops showing up creating a scene? But the argument between Rob and Nick was pretty intense.”
A third source who attended the party said that Reiner at one point told his friends that he was “petrified” that his son could or would “hurt” him.
“I’m petrified of [Nick],” he reportedly said. “I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I’m afraid of my son. I think my own son can hurt me.”
As previously reported, Reiner and his wife were murdered by their estranged, drug-addicted, and very weird son following the party.
“Nick was freaking everyone out [at the people], acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous,” an insider told People magazine.
Another insider told U.S. Weekly that Reiner’s son behaved “creepily” at the party.

According to TMZ, Nick was diagnosed with schizophrenia weeks ahead of the murders.
“Two sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Nick was under the care of a psychiatrist for mental illness,” the outlet reported. “We’re told in the month before the murders, Nick’s behavior had gotten ‘alarming.’”
The medication he was given reportedly only made things worse.
“Our sources say 3 to 4 weeks before the murders, doctors changed his meds and he became even more erratic,” TMZ noted. “Our sources say doctors were trying to adjust the medications so Nick stabilized, but it wasn’t working.”
“Nick was out of his head” after the change in meds, one source told TMZ.
Nick was found at the Pierside Hotel Santa Monica early Sunday morning, hours after the murders.
“Eyewitnesses who saw Nick check in say he seemed ‘tweaked out,’ but there were no visible signs he had been in a violent confrontation — we’re told definitely no blood stains or cuts on his body,” according to TMZ.
When the hotel staff entered his room later that morning, they reportedly found the shower “full of blood.” They also found blood on the bed.
Nick was taken into custody at the hotel at 9:15 pm that evening.

Nick made his first court appearance this Wednesday. He’s been charged with two counts of murder and could potentially face life in prison or the death penalty.
His attorney, Alan Jackson, urged caution.
“There are very very complex, serious issues associated with this case,” he said, according to the Los Angles Times. “We ask that during this process you allow the system to move forward in the way it was designed. Not with a rush to judgment. Not with jumping to conclusions. But with restraint and with dignity.”
