Video captures plane smashing into a car on Florida interstate

Shocking new video out of Cocoa, Florida, shows an aircraft smashing into a vehicle on the interstate.

Dashcam from another vehicle just behind the action reveals the shocking moment a small “fixed-wing multi-engine aircraft” attempted to land on the southbound lane of I-95 during rush hour.

The emergency landing resulted in a 2023 Toyota Camry being rear-ended, with the video appearing to show the plane bouncing on top of the car before sliding to the left and sending sparks flying. The Florida Highway Patrol announced that the 57-year-old driver of that vehicle was taken to the hospital with only minor injuries. Meanwhile, the plane’s passengers, two 27-year-old males, did not sustain any injuries during the accident and remained at the scene.

“We just saw this plane drop out of the sky,” said witness Jim Coffey in a statement to Spectrum News 13.

“I noticed it was there, because there’s a plane right there, I was like, ‘Hopefully it lands to the side,” said Peter Coffey, Jim’s son, who was also present at the time of the crash. “I thought it might maybe aim around and not hit the car, but bam, the wheel just smacked right dab on the back of the car.”

“Fortunately, the car didn’t roll; it kind of mashed and went to the side,” Jim Coffey added.
