A Washington, D.C.,-area radio host received a phone call Tuesday from a man who said he found a dead body in Frederick, Maryland.
The bizarre call into “Elliott in the Morning” on DC101 came from a man named Joseph, who told the host it was not his real name, who described discovering the corpse roughly three weeks prior to the call. Police have not released any information on the victim and are investigating, WBAL TV reported.
“I sent [Elliott in the Morning] Diane [Stupar-Hughes] a few pictures of me exploring nature, and look what I came upon,” the caller told host Elliott Segal, who responded, “Dude, you found a dead body?”

Police confirmed the discovery of the body, which was in an advanced stage of decomposition, according to WBAL. “Joseph” told Segal he’d found the body in a wooded area which had a campsite that was part of a tent city.
“Dude, call the cops. Call the cops,” Elliot responded. “Are the remains still at that campsite?”
Police told WBAL there did not appear to be any threat to the public, nor was their investigation uncovering any foul play involved.

Frederick resident Ray Rudolph told WBAL the discovery was “something that needs to be investigated to see if there is anything pertinent.”
“Due to the condition of the remains, a positive identification has not yet been made and that process is underway,” the Frederick Police Department said in a post on Facebook. “The individual who reported the discovery has been interviewed by detectives. At this stage, the investigation does not indicate foul play.”
“Given the heightened public interest, the department encourages the community and media to rely on confirmed information released by the Frederick Police Department,” the post continued. “Further updates will be provided as they become available.”
