Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro appears not to have a care in the world despite the United States ramping up activity in the Caribbean.
As President Donald Trump’s administration continues to target alleged Venezuelan narcotics vessels, Maduro was caught on camera dancing to a remix of his peace slogans during a student event in Caracas. This comes after he played “Imagine” by John Lennon as United States warships patrolled near his country’s coast.
He even appears to hit one of Trump’s signature dance moves during the song.

Siempre me he preguntado cómo un tipo tan ridículo puede mantener sometido a todo un pueblo.

Maduro has even encouraged the young people of his country to look up the lyrics to “Imagine,” calling it a “beautiful song.
“What a beautiful song. The lyrics – young people, look up the lyrics,” a translation of his speech reads. “It’s an inspiration for all time. It’s an anthem for all eras and generations that John Lennon left as a gift to humanity. Long live the eternal memory of that great poet and musician, John Lennon.”
But while Maduro continues preaching for peace, Trump’s administration continues to take out boats they claim are connected to drug smuggling operations.
“On Monday, the State Department formally announced the Cartel de los Soles would be designated as a foreign terrorist organization,” Fox News reported. “The Cartel de los Soles, or ‘Cartel of the Suns,’ refers to a network of government and military officials in Venezuela engaged in drug trafficking.”
In a statement last week, Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused cartels in Venezuela, including the Cartel de los Soles, of being “responsible for terrorist violence throughout our hemisphere as well as for trafficking drugs into the United States and Europe.”

Dancing while tensions rise with the U.S. seems tone-deaf.
People are worried about security and economics, yet he’s turning it into a spectacle.
