Hunter Biden claimed on the “Wide Awake Podcast” on Nov. 6 that the Sept. 10 assassination of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk benefited President Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.
Many left-wing individuals celebrated the assassination, as shown in a supercut posted by Grabien News founder Tom Elliot. Biden argued on the podcast that it was unclear why Kirk was killed and that MAGA was the beneficiary because it gave them “righteous indignation.”
WATCH:
“I’ve never really seen a figure like Charlie Kirk be assassinated pretty much purely because of their beliefs,” host Joshua Rubin said.
Biden questioned whether Rubin could know for certain that Kirk was killed for his beliefs, calling it a right-wing narrative. While Rubin said he could not come up with any other reason for the assassination, Biden speculated that the assassin could have been a member of the “groyper” movement aiming simply to cause “chaos.”
“He wasn’t necessarily shot for his beliefs,” Biden said. “He was shot because he was one of the loudest people speaking out there … I don’t know whether Charlie Kirk was shot because of what he believed or whether he was shot by a disaffected white male, an incel that had ready access to a high caliber rifle and the capacity to be able to shoot a kill shot from over 200 yards from a prone from a roof and somehow disassembled the rifle before he got off the roof without it being able to [be] seen on video.”
“And then amazingly, after being able to do that, was so dumb that he wrote a full confession over text message to his supposed trans roommate that may have been his boyfriend, exonerating his father and blah blah blah blah blah,” he added. “Come on, man. Come on. And so I don’t know why Charlie Kirk was shot.”
Kirk’s suspected assassin, Tyler Robinson, was in a relationship with a trans-identifying male named Lance Twiggs, whom he appeared to confess to over text message. Robinson’s parents informed authorities that their son had recently become “more pro-gay and trans-rights oriented,” Utah County Attorney Jeffrey Gray said on Sept. 16.
Robinson also texted Twiggs that he had “had enough of [Kirk’s] hatred.”
Biden also referenced a conspiracy theory that Kirk’s assassination was linked to him allegedly planning to turn on Israel.
“I don’t know why Charlie Kirk was shot, but I do know this. It’s only served one group of people, Charlie Kirk’s death. MAGA. They have taken this,” he said. “They have wrapped themselves in it. They have righteous indignation.”
Moreover, Biden claimed that “all of the data shows” that around 85% of political violence has been committed by “right-wing extremists.”
However, even The Atlantic acknowledged on Sept. 23 that left-wing violence had spiraled out of control since Trump entered politics, based on its compilation of a data set of 750 attacks between Jan. 1, 1994, to July 4, 2025. It found that left-wing terror attacks were outnumbering violence from the political right and that 2025 was on pace to be the most violent year for the political left in over 30 years.
