Ron DeSantis has a solution for disaffected NYPD officers

Residents in the state of Florida have a keen interest in the goings on in New York City, primarily because disaffected New Yorkers looking to escape seem to have an affinity for the Sunshine State.

There’s a popular saying, “Don’t New York my Florida,” because some pack their failed politics in the U-Haul alongside their personal belongings.

Nonetheless, wth the Red Apple electing a communist with a history of anti-police rhetoric — Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani now claims those views are “out of step” with his current views — there’s talk about an exodus from the NYPD and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is ready to welcome these officers.

“The $5k recruitment bonus we give to new officers will be utilized by a number of these NYPD officers,” DeSantis posted on social media. “There is no reason to risk your life serving when the mayor hates you and believes your department shouldn’t even exist.”

The popular Republican governor had a little fun after NYC voters elected a Muslim socialist as their next mayor, querying potential responses to Mamdani’s victory.

The options included: Build a FL border wall, Tariff all transplants, and Recruit new transplants — building a wall was the popular choice.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
