Residents in the state of Florida have a keen interest in the goings on in New York City, primarily because disaffected New Yorkers looking to escape seem to have an affinity for the Sunshine State.
There’s a popular saying, “Don’t New York my Florida,” because some pack their failed politics in the U-Haul alongside their personal belongings.

“The $5k recruitment bonus we give to new officers will be utilized by a number of these NYPD officers,” DeSantis posted on social media. “There is no reason to risk your life serving when the mayor hates you and believes your department shouldn’t even exist.”

I’m going to coin “The Mamdani Effect” as the definition of ending things. Ending capitalism, police forces, and prompting many long-term residents of New York City to move.
