‘We failed you’: Canada’s top general weeps over so-called ‘systemic racism,’ offers apology

At a time when U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is refocusing the armed forces on warfighting instead of wokeness,  the top general in Canada is weeping about so-called “systemic racism” in her country’s military.

In a Thursday speech that provides a striking contrast between the two countries when it comes to defense priorities, Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Gen. Jennie Carignan delivered a tear-sodden apology for alleged discrimination in the ranks.

“For way too long, First Nations, Inuit, Métis, Black, Asian and other racialized members of the CAF faced systemic barriers that limited their ability to serve, contribute and thrive as equal members and too often mistreated and even abused at the hands of their fellow members,” Carignan said, turning on the waterworks.

“I acknowledge we failed you… We didn’t create an environment where you could serve your country to the highest level with pride and determination and I’m sorry for the silence, indifference and that this went on for years,” she added as the sound of at least one other person sobbing in the background was heard.

Carignan pledged that the CAF is committed to the elimination of “systemic barriers” as the result of “a difficult journey of reflection, self-awareness, of understanding and allyship.”

“Racism has no place in the CAF. It cannot be tolerated and it has no place in our future,” she declared.

Also speaking in Ottawa was Chief Warrant Officer Bob McCann.

“You gave your best to this institution. You gave your best to this country. You gave your best to your teams,” he said. “You deserved far better than what you have received.”

The waterlogged apology for non-existent wrongs was rightly slammed by X users.
