Charlamagne claps back at Democrat caller attacking him for being negative about Biden in 2024

Radio host Charlamagne Tha God told a Democratic caller on “The Breakfast Club” Friday that she was wrong to attack him for criticizing former President Joe Biden during the 2024 presidential election.

Charlamagne frequently criticized Biden on his show during the election, asserting on July 9, 2024, that he had “never been a good candidate.” The caller awarded “Donkey Of The Day” to the media, including Charlamagne’s show, based on her belief that they helped President Donald Trump win.

“The media elected Trump even while Biden was in office. There was so much emphasis on what Trump was doing … And all the good things that Biden and [former Vice President] Kamala [Harris] did, I feel like there was no reporting of it,” the caller said. “Rhetoric matters. ‘The Breakfast Club’ played a lot of influence in how you guys would report on Biden even after the debate. The way Democrats brought down Democrats — it’s just like Republicans would never do that.”

“And even you, Charlamagne, you had a lot to say negative,” she added. “I just feel like you have to just really be intentional about the things we’re saying. We can’t turn on each other. Democrats can’t turn.”

Charlamagne retorted that he was “very intentional” with his rhetoric and that he was not a member of the Democratic Party.

“I’m also not going to lie to people. And you know what else you can’t lie about? You can’t lie about what you see,” he said. “So I understand that you want to blame the media, but is there any blame for President Biden?”

“You know what you should do? You should read the ‘Original Sin’ by Jake Tapper and you should read Kamala Harris’ ‘107 Days,’” he continued. “And Kamala Harris said herself that it was reckless for President Biden to make the decision to run again when everybody knew he was in the condition he was in.”

Tapper’s book on Biden’s decline found that cabinet officials believed the former president would not be dependable at 2 a.m. during an emergency and that he failed to recognize actor George Clooney at a fundraiser.

In addition to Biden’s reported decline, the former president oversaw the highest level of net migration in U.S. history, according to The New York Times’ analysis of government data in December 2024. Around 11 million border encounters happened between February 2021 and December 2024, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data.

Moreover, inflation reached a peak of 9% in June 2022 under Biden, an increase from 1.4% in January 2021 when he was inaugurated.
