Riley Gaines dares AOC to debate after saying socialist lawmaker sided with male swimmer who ‘flashed his junk’

Daily Caller News Foundation

Riley Gaines appeared on Fox News on Monday and challenged Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to a public debate after the lawmaker defended a biological male who competed against women in NCAA events.

Ocasio-Cortez retweeted Gaines’ post and shot back that Gaines might have placed higher if she spent less time being angry and more time swimming faster. Appearing on “The Ingraham Angle,” Gaines challenged Ocasio-Cortez to a debate, saying she would confront the congresswoman over abortion and other Democratic policies she described as extreme.

“This position is morally bankrupt, and it’s politically foolish. For clarity, Laura, yes, I finished fifth in the nation at the Division One National Championship side, tying with a six-foot-four man who ranked 462nd in the men’s division the year prior,” Gaines told host Laura Ingraham. “It was like a South Park episode, but real life. And whose side does AOC and the rest of the Democratic Party take? They take the six-foot-four man who flashed his junk at women in the locker room. That’s whose side they take.”

Gaines said Democrats are consistently siding against the majority on key cultural issues.

“They cannot help themselves but be on the wrong side of every 80-20 issue. Whether it’s border, whether it’s crime, whether it’s castrating children, whether it’s parental rights, whether it’s men in women’s sports,” Gaines added.

Gaines said she’s ready to go head-to-head with the congresswoman on issues ranging from socialism and abortion to morality and the role of God in American life.

“I want to honestly challenge AOC to a debate. She can defend socialism. I will defend capitalism. She can defend removing God. I will defend embracing a Biblical worldview,” Gaines said. “She can defend child sacrifice. I will defend the sanctity of life. Any of the radical, insane Democratic policies and platform that they stand for, I will debate the opposite. I’m challenging AOC to it here.”

Ocasio-Cortez brushed off Gaines’ challenge with a dismissive remark about her career.

“And I would like to challenge this person to get a real job,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote.

Just two House Democrats backed the Women’s Sports Protection Act earlier this year, a measure designed to prohibit biological males from competing against women. The bill passed the House 218–206 as polling showed roughly eight in 10 Americans opposed allowing men to enter women’s divisions, according to a January New York Times/Ipsos poll.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order in February reinforcing the ban, prompting Democratic Maine Gov. Janet Mills to threaten legal action against the administration. The effort later stalled in the Senate when Democrats voted to block the legislation in March.
