Fox News host Bret Baier revealed on Monday that he will not be exiting Fox News in the near future, as reports circulated about CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss wanting to hire him.
Weiss reportedly eyed Baier as a potential new hire since she stepped into her new role at the network. Baier said during an appearance on “Citizen McCain with Meghan McCain” that he is still under a multiyear contract with Fox News that is not set to expire until 2028.
“I would not be surprised if you didn’t ask this question. I’m flattered by all the press and everything like that, but I’m in a multiyear contract with Fox, so I don’t know where everything is going. I’m signed on to Fox, very happy with Fox, and we’ll see what happens at the end of that. But it’s interesting to see all the press,” Baier said.

Baier has anchored “Special Report” since January 2009 after spending 11 years in various roles at Fox News, including as White House correspondent.
CBS News named Weiss as editor-in-chief after purchasing The Free Press for $150 million in early October. She founded The Free Press in October 2021 after she resigned from The New York Times in 2020 over the backlash she received for publishing an op-ed by Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton, alleging “unlawful discrimination, hostile work environment, and constructive discharge.”
“CBS Evening News” is currently hosted by John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois, though Dickerson announced on Monday that he is leaving the show in December. He replaced Norah O’Donnell in January after she departed from her role as the anchor and managing editor of the program.
