YouTuber’s ‘coverage’ of Indian village’s feces-flinging ritual puts him in smear zone

One YouTuber’s filming of a remote Indian village’s feces-flinging ritual has resulted in complaints.

Tyler Oliveira posted a clip titled “Inside India’s Poop-Throwing Festival” on X, teasing his latest YouTube video. In it, members of a remote village in India partake in what is called the Gorehabba festival, where dried cow dung is flung around in a post-Diwali Hindu tradition. While the content alone is shocking for those who don’t participate in such rituals, there are many who believe that Oliveira attended for the content rather than the significance of the event.

Happy Diwali! Yes, I went to India’s poop throwing festival. It was the sh**tiest experience of my life. I will never go back. Please pray that I survive,” he wrote in a separate post, showing him in a hazmat suit that was marked with brown stains.

Not everyone was pleased with the YouTuber’s stunt, including other Indians.

“Why do you have to come to India and then record a video of a cow dung festival by going in the middle of the event and then cry like a loser! You sh**ty fellow. You can record poop in Western countries, plenty on streets of California. Human poop you can have record in your countries. Make videos,” wrote one man.

“While that’s an Ai generated video, here is an actual poop throwing festival from Oklahoma, USA. They really need Indians to civilise them,” wrote another account.

“Tyler Oliveira enters India pretending to be a vlogger only hunts for the dirtiest corners chicken markets, garbage dumps, and now some little known village festival. He’s not here to explore; he’s here to defame. It’s hard to believe this isn’t part of a planned smear campaign,” complained another.
