Minnesota man arrested after offering $45k reward for AG Pam Bondi’s death

The evolution of technology has, in many ways, made it easier to catch and convict criminals than ever before.

Sometimes, it’s because of advances in DNA identification, other times it’s things like license plate readers that catch criminals near the crime scene when they would have otherwise gone undetected.

And in other cases, it’s because the suspect shared evidence of their alleged crimes on social media platforms like TikTok. Such is the case of 29-year-old Tyler Maxon Avalos of St. Paul, Minnesota, who was arrested and charged with interstate transmission of a threat to injure another person.

According to authorities, Avalos is implicated in a “murder for hire” plot against Attorney General Pam Bondi, and is accused of putting a $45,000 bounty on her head. He reportedly shared a shocking “wanted” poster of Bondi, which read “WANTED: Pam Bondi / REWARD: 45,000 ‘ DEAD OR ALIVE / (PREFERABLY DEAD).’” An anonymous caller alerted the FBI to the post, and the suspect was quickly located and arrested on October 16.

“Cough cough. When they don’t serve us, then what?” read a caption under the post, which was published under the TikTok user name “Wacko.” Avalos has prior convictions and a lengthy rap sheet littered with crimes like domestic assault and stalking. He reportedly has anarchist ties as well, making the alleged threat all the more concerning. Court filings indicate that he has also published a link to “An Anarchist FAQ book” on his profile.

According to Law & Crime, U.S. Magistrate Judge Douglas Micko “granted Avalos a release from custody, subject to various conditions. Those conditions included no travel outside of Minnesota, continuing mental health treatment, no possession of weapons, no consumption of alcohol, a curfew, GPS monitoring, and no internet access without approval.”
