‘He did extremely well’: Malaysian caller heaps praise on Trump after visit to his country

A Malaysian video caller on Monday’s “The Morning Meeting” said President Donald Trump handled himself superbly during his visit to his country’s capital, Kuala Lumpur , where he said he was calling from.

Trump spent Sunday in Kuala Lumpur, brokering trade agreements with both Malaysia and Cambodia and helping secure the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accords between Thailand and Cambodia. The caller asserted on the 2WAY show that Trump surprised him by being “statesmanlike” rather than boastful, and that his behavior reflected positively on the U.S. and the Trump administration.

“I thought that Trump played the visit extremely well. The media over here actually covered, both for domestic and for the region,” the caller said. “I think he did extremely well, and for the PR of the United States and for [the] Trump administration. It was beyond my expectation how he conducted himself.”

“I was a bit concerned that he would be a bit more his braggadocious self. He didn’t. He actually played very statesmanlike,” he added. “And his informal actions played very well to the crowd and feedback in the local media.”

Upon landing in Kuala Lumpur, Trump disembarked Air Force One, where Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim greeted him, flanked by a smiling group of dancers donning traditional Malaysian garb. The president delighted the delegation by dancing with them.

“This has been an incredibly successful day for Malaysia,” Trump said at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Malaysia after signing the peace deal. “Today’s signing represents just one of eight conflicts that we ended in eight months of the Trump presidency. I’m very honored to have done it. We’ve saved millions of lives. That also includes the end of the war in Gaza.”

Trump is also slated to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday in South Korea, with officials from both superpowers remaining optimistic about striking a trade deal, The Associated Press reported.
