Chicago elementary teacher gets internet famous after mimicking Charlie Kirk’s assassination at ‘No Kings’ rally

A woman is going viral for her mockery of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk during the Chicago “No Kings” protest.

She has been identified as a Nathan Hale Elementary School teacher named Lucy Martinez, and she quickly went viral for being filmed putting a finger up to her neck and pretending to pull a trigger when a man in a truck drove by and called Kirk a hero. Martinez is the latest of many teachers to be caught mocking the public execution of Kirk, making many wonder exactly who the people teaching our children really are.

Look:

The school’s website was taken down following the circulation of the video, and rumors quickly spread that she had been fired, though there appears to be no official confirmation of that from the school.

However, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) did release a statement reaffirming their commitment to “creating and maintaining a welcoming, safe and inclusive teaching and learning environment, free from harassment, bias, or harm of any kind.”

“While CPS does not comment on specific personnel matters, the District follows a consistent process when allegations of misconduct are reported. Employees found to have violated Board policy are subject to disciplinary action.”

It is unclear if this means that Martinez’s behavior is currently under investigation, and a decision will be made about her employment upon its conclusion.

X users didn’t take long to form their own opinions on the woman in the video:
