Hegseth’s plane forced to make emergency landing in UK

Daily Caller News Foundation

A Pentagon plane carrying War Secretary Pete Hegseth was forced to make an emergency landing in the U.K. after a windshield cracked during flight, Pentagon Spokesperson Sean Parnell announced Wednesday.

Hegseth was departing from a meeting with NATO ministers in Brussels, Belgium, before the plane sharply turned around and descended towards the UK, Parnell said on X. No one aboard the Air Force C-32 was harmed during the incident, including the secretary.

“The plane landed based on standard procedures and everyone onboard, including Secretary Hegseth, is safe,” Parnell said in his post.

The Pentagon did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

Public flight data showed the plane making a rapid descent to 10,000 feet above the ocean near the UK, a standard procedure in the event of a cabin depressurization. The flight squawked 7700 before making a sharp turn towards land, an emergency code broadcast in the event of depressurization.

The plane reportedly landed at a Royal Air Force base, according to flight data.
