There’s a government shutdown going on, but Senator Adam Schiff, D-Calif., doesn’t seem to know it.
Schiff posted a job opening for a social media manager, which would presumably be a taxpayer-funded gig, during a shutdown. Because what’s more appealing than applying for a job where you don’t know when you will be paid?
Look:
WOW: The Government is currently in a shutdown but Senator Adam Schiff just posted a brand new job opening hiring a taxpayer funded Social Media manager for himself

As of this posting, it appears the listing is no longer available, but a separate ad for a “Digital or Creative Director” with a similar description was posted on October 3.
“Senator Adam Schiff seeks a strategic and creative or digital director to manage his digital and online presence, grow his audience, and tell the story. This staffer will work closely with the Senator, Communications Director and other senior staff to craft compelling content and partnerships, and view digital. The ideal candidate will view digital and traditional communications as all part of a broader media landscape, and work to expand the Senator’s reach across it in new and creative ways,” it reads.
X users had a lot to say about the interestingly timed advertisements:
I’ll be his social media manager! I’ll get fired within the first day, I’m sure.

He doesn’t know how to do anything himself so he has to have staff to tell him what to say and where to go.

Senate staff budget should be one of the first things on the chopping block.

Shoot, I think the OMB should start the terminations with Congressional Staffers. If Schiff needs someone to do his social media let him pay for it out of his own pocket.
