FBI Director Kash Patel announced that the nation’s top law enforcement agency was severing ties with the Southern Poverty Law Center, a rancid and dishonest attack dog for the Democratic Party that has long specialized in smearing conservatives.
Patel delivered the good news that the organization’s disgraceful tactics would no longer be legitimized by the FBI in a Friday post to X.

“The Southern Poverty Law Center long ago abandoned civil rights work and turned into a partisan smear machine. Their so-called ‘hate map’ has been used to defame mainstream Americans and even inspired violence. That disgraceful record makes them unfit for any FBI partnership,” he said.
“In April, during our Anti-Christian Bias Panel, I made it clear that the FBI will never rely on politicized or agenda-driven intelligence from outside groups — and certainly not from the SPLC,” Patel added. “Under this FBI, all ties with the SPLC have officially been terminated.”
Founded in 1971, the Alabama-based nonprofit was initially devoted to civil rights advocacy but evolved into a ruthlessly partisan operation that specializes in identifying “hate groups” and “right-wing extremists,” many of which are neither but are enemies of the Democratic Party. With one example being Turning Point USA, which was placed on the SPLC’s “Hate Map” before co-founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated last month.
In May, the “partisan smear machine” listed Turning Point USA in its “hate and extremism” report, claiming that it is a “hard-right organization with links to Southern Poverty Law Center-identified hard-right extremists.”
“Turning Point USA’s primary strategy is sowing and exploiting fear that white Christian supremacy is under attack by nefarious actors, including immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community and civil rights activists,” the SPLC stated.
“Turning Point USA’s effort to sow fear and division to enforce social hierarchies rooted in supremacism is emblematic of the hard right’s broader political project to destroy our foundational democratic principles and institutions,” the organization falsely claimed.
“SPLC is guilty of incitement to murder Charlie Kirk,” former DOGE chief and Tesla/SpaceX CEO Elon Musk wrote this week in a post to X.

“The SPLC has added Turning Point to their ridiculous ‘hate group’ list, right next to the KKK and neo-Nazis, a cheap smear from a washed-up org that’s been fleecing scared grandmas for decades,” the slain Kirk wrote in a May 25 post to X, responding to the inclusion of TPUSA in the report.

“Being on their list is a badge of honor. It means they’re terrified that we’re so effective. Keep crying, SPLC—America’s done with your scam,” Kirk said.

The news comes after Patel’s previous announcement that the FBI was also ending its relationship with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), another organization that has badly lost its way under the current leadership of CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, a rabidly partisan former adviser to President Barack Obama.
“James Comey wrote ‘love letters’ to the ADL and embedded FBI agents with them – a group that ran disgraceful ops spying on Americans,” the FBI chief said in a post to X. “That era is OVER. This FBI won’t partner with political fronts masquerading as watchdogs.”
