Pope Leo XIV stepped in it again when he waded into politics by giving his blessing to left-wing dogma on the unholy trinity of abortion, illegal aliens, and climate change.
A Chicago native, the pontiff sided with Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), who was tapped to receive a lifetime achievement award for his support of immigrants by the Archdiocese of Chicago despite his pro-abortion views.
Durbin was chosen to be honored in November by Chicago Cardinal Blase Cupich, who drew backlash from conservative bishops and other Catholics, leading to the retiring Democrat declining the award.
When asked about the controversy on Tuesday, Pope Leo could have been singing from the DNC hymnal when he defended Durbin, suggesting that his critics are hypocrites.
Pope Leo XIV weighs in on Cardinal Cupich’s decision to honor pro-abortion Sen Dick Durbin, saying: “I think that is very important to look at the overall work that this Senator has done during, if I’m not mistaken, 40 years of service in the United States Senate.

“Someone who says ‘I’m against abortion but says I’m in favor of the death penalty’ is not really pro-life,” he told reporters. “Someone who says that ‘I’m against abortion, but I’m in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States,’ I don’t know if that’s pro-life.”
Durbin backed out of accepting the award after CatholicVote started a petition on the organization’s online CatholicVote Action Center that allowed respondents to submit direct messages to Cardinal Cupich’s office, which received more than 40,000 signatures, according to Fox News.
“Senator Durbin today informed me that he has decided not to receive an award at our Keep Hope Alive celebration,” Cardinal Cupich said in a Tuesday statement.
“While I am saddened by this news, I respect his decision. But I want to make clear that the decision to present him an award was specifically in recognition of his singular contribution to immigration reform and his unwavering support of immigrants, which is so needed in our day,” he added.
The Democrat senator reacted to the Pope’s remarks, saying that he was “overwhelmed” by the unexpected support from the world’s top Catholic.
“It is amazing to me. It’s quite a moment. I didn’t expect it. I didn’t know it was gonna happen,” Durbin told NBC News.
When asked about Pope Leo’s description of the treatment of illegal aliens as “inhuman” on Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt disagreed.

“This administration is trying to enforce our nation’s laws in the most humane way possible, and we are upholding the law,” she said. “We are doing that on behalf of the people of our country who live here.”
Sticking with legitimizing leftism, the Pope also boosted the false religion of the climate change cult when he blessed a block of ice at a bizarre pagan ceremony at a global gathering in Rome, the week after President Donald J. Trump went scorched earth on the doomsday loonies in a blistering United Nations speech.

“We cannot love God, whom we cannot see, while despising his creatures. Nor can we call ourselves disciples of Jesus Christ without participating in his outlook on creation and his care for all that is fragile and wounded,” Leo said from the stage that featured lush tropical plants and the large hunk of a melting glacier from Greenland, revealing that he’s just another “woke” pope like the last one.
“Horrific. The whole thing. Pope Leo blesses a block of ice and then stands there while these communist freaks do some kind of weird pagan Earth-worshipping hippy ritual. The leader of the Catholic Church shouldn’t be anywhere near this nonsense. What the hell are we doing here?” said conservative commentator Matt Walsh, reacting to Leo’s participation in the strange ritual.
