EPA reportedly dismisses staffer who reveled Charlie Kirk’s murder

Daily Caller News Foundation

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reportedly dismissed a staffer after they posted a slew of posts celebrating the murder of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk online, according to Florida’s Voice.

Screenshots obtained by the outlet show that the staffer posted images mocking Kirk’s death on social media, with content ranging from violent to sexually explicit. Numerous universities and companies have dismissed staff over mocking Kirk’s assassination online, and several high-profile figures have apologized for statements they made about Kirk in the wake of his murder.

One screenshot shows an image of a man supposed to be Kirk, slumped back in a chair and bleeding from his neck with the caption “fucked around and found out.” Another depicts cartoon character Bugs Bunny beside the words “I wish all right-wing commentators a very pleasant reap what they sow.”

Florida’s Voice displayed several other posts demeaning Kirk, including one that pictured Kirk alongside Ashli Babbitt, who was killed during the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. The outlet blurred out most of the photo due to its sexually explicit nature.

Kirk was shot in the neck and killed on Sept. 10 while speaking to students at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. Several members of the administration publicly grieved over Kirk, including EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin.

President Donald Trump and many other high-level officials attended Kirk’s memorial service on Sept. 21.

Notably, a recent Napolitan News Service poll found that 51% of voters believe private companies are justified in firing employees who celebrate an assassination online, with Kirk’s murder serving as a prime example. Democrats were the “only measured demographic group” with a majority opposing private companies firing those who celebrated assassinations online at a narrow 51%, according to the poll.

The EPA told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the agency “does not comment on personnel,” and the staffer could not be reached.
