Keith Olbermann’s former colleague says it’s time for ‘sick’ ex-anchor to seek professional help

Former MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann has been spewing crazed hatred for years, but his since-deleted social media threat to CNN political commentator Scott Jennings may have been a bridge too far.

“You’re next, motherf**ker,” he wrote on X, a dangerous post at a time of rapidly escalating political violence that has been stoked by a steady stream of incendiary rhetoric from Democrats and the media, culminating in the assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk earlier this month.

The 66-year-old left-wing crank has become increasingly unhinged as he sits holed up in his New York City apartment, unable to get another television job after being fired by ESPN and MSNBC, and for years has been relegated to making rage-filled video rants and posting profanity-drenched missives to social media.

The ex-MSNBC personality removed the threat to Jennings and apologized, but it’s no longer possible to deny that Olbermann seems to be badly in need of an extended stay at a mental health facility and some serious meds.

Olbermann’s obvious unwellness has prompted some former colleagues to suggest that it’s time for him to seek “serious help,” something that has been obvious for years as he has been consumed by his irrational hatred for President Donald J. Trump.

“We thought for many years that he was losing it, and I say this honestly and out of concern for another human being,” Sage Steele, a former ESPN anchor who worked with Olbermann at the sports network, told the New York Post.

“I think anyone who posts such hate as he often does and the language he uses, there’s something that’s not right,” added Steele, who currently hosts “The Sage Steele Show” on YouTube.

“He needs some serious help,” she added. “It’s actually heartbreaking to see, especially for those of us who grew up watching him.”

“The psychosis of Keith Olbermann has officially reached another level,” Steele said in a video posted to X. “Remember, this man was fired from ESPN three times, fired from MSNBC, fired from Fox Sports, fired from a couple of places…”

“But it’s very clear now to me and others that Keith Olbermann is sick. He is not well, and he needs help,” she added.

Last year, Olbermann trashed Steele as the “dumbest person I’ve ever worked with in sports or news” after she revealed that her 2021 interview with disgraced former President Joe Biden was scripted.

Agent Jean Sage, who represented the former star anchor for three decades, told the New York Post, “He’s been fired from just about every job he’s had.”

“He’s immensely talented but people either hated him or loved him and he always wanted to burn down the house every time,” Sage added.

Former colleagues told the New York Post that Olbermann rarely leaves home unless he can find someone who will take care of his dogs. For all of his misanthropic tendencies, he has a soft spot for furry four-legged friends and works with New York City Animal Control Services, and has posted about helping to find homes for rescue dogs.

“He refused to come to ESPN’s studios in Bristol, Connecticut to record unless someone could take care of his dogs,” Steele said, telling the outlet that she had to often travel to ESPN studios in the Big Apple for broadcasts even though she headed up the popular SportsCenter program.

“Keith has gotten away with so much hatred and inciting violence, frankly, for years,” Steele said in her video. “But maybe now he’s realizing that it’s not acceptable. Not anymore, not under this current administration, not during these times when someone like Charlie Kirk is murdered because of his opinions.”

“So, I’m not trying to be dramatic, but Keith Olbermann, you are sick,” she said. “And I pray, I mean, I know you don’t believe in God, but I pray that you get the help that you need, desperately.”
