Kash Patel delivers stern warning following Comey indictment: Everyone will be held to account

FBI Director Kash Patel released a stern statement in the wake of disgraced former FBI Director James Comey’s indictment on Thursday.

In his statement published to the social media platform X, Patel stressed that “no one is above the law” and that his FBI is serious about holding accountable those who have “weaponized federal law enforcement.”

“Today, your FBI took another step in its promise of full accountability,”  he began. “For far too long, previous corrupt leadership and their enablers weaponized federal law enforcement, damaging once proud institutions and severely eroding public trust.”

“Every day, we continue the fight to earn that trust back, and under my leadership, this FBI will confront the problem head-on. Nowhere was this politicization of law enforcement more blatant than during the Russiagate hoax, a disgraceful chapter in history we continue to investigate and expose,” he continued.

“Everyone, especially those in positions of power, will be held to account – no matter their perch. No one is above the law,” Patel concluded.

The FBI director’s statement prompted praise from various figures on the Republican right.

“For too long, Washington insiders acted like the rules didn’t apply to them,” Arizona gubernatorial candidate Karrin Taylor Robson tweeted. “The indictment of James Comey proves otherwise: accountability matters, and no one is above the law.”

Over on the left, meanwhile, there was nothing but the usual unhinged outrage that leftists have been spewing since President Donald Trump assumed office in January.

The accusation from the administration’s critics that it has weaponized the federal government spurred pushback from the right.

Right-wing counter-critics pointed to the Biden administration’s stunning prosecution of current President Donald Trump and over a dozen of his close allies and assistants.

“The Biden Administration weaponized the FBI,” Rep. Jim Jordan recently tweeted. “Kash Patel is focused on catching criminals. Such a contrast.”

Catching actual criminals, that is, not just old grandmothers who trespassed onto the Capitol on Jan. 6th or who peacefully protested outside an abortion clinic.

Unlike the Biden administration, the Trump administration has been especially serious about going after left-wing/Antifa extremist networks. Ever since Trump’s first presidency, both have flourished.
