James Comey’s son-in-law, Troy Edwards, abruptly resigned as a federal prosecutor right after the disgraced former FBI director was indicted Thursday on charges of making a false statement and obstruction related to his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2020.
In a one-sentence resignation letter to newly appointed U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan in Virginia’s Eastern District, Edwards wrote: “To uphold my oath to the Constitution and country, I hereby resign as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia in the Department of Justice effective immediately.”
Edwards worked for the same office that charged Comey, holding a prestigious role that covers the Pentagon and CIA headquarters, handling some of the highest-profile espionage cases, according to CNN.

Another bombshell dropped on Thursday was a report from Blaze News that the FBI acknowledged it had 275 plainclothes agents operating on the ground during the Jan. 6, 2021 protest at the U.S. Capitol — the admission contradicts a Department of Justice Office of Inspector General claim that there were no undercover FBI personnel in the Jan. 6 crowds.
“We found no evidence in the materials we reviewed or the testimony we received showing or suggesting that the FBI had undercover employees in the various protest crowds, or at the Capitol, on January 6,” the DOJ OIG said in an 88-page report released in December 2024, according to Blaze News.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on the social media platform X:

Will he be counsel for @Comey‘s trial?
I’m sure Comey will have unlimited funding for his defense from left-wing billionaires.
His son-in-law would rake in massive fees.

Such a politically incestuous bunch! How many other family members of James Comey were cosplaying as attorneys within the DOJ? James Comey, Maurene Comey, Troy Edward’s, who else?
