Senate unanimously votes for remembrance of Charlie Kirk Day

In the latest sign that the tide has turned since the senseless assassination of Charlie Kirk, the U.S. Senate unanimously approved a resolution designating Oct. 14, 2025, as a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk — the date representing what would have been the conservative activist’s 32nd birthday.

The resolution was introduced by Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.), with all Republican co-sponsors, and said that Kirk “consistently promoted the values of individual liberty, open debate, the importance of civic engagement, and the defense of constitutional principles.”

“Charlie was a good man — a devout husband, father, and friend. His life was shaped by his faith and the idea that in America, debate and discussion are crucial to the betterment of our country,” Sen. Scott said in a news release.

“Charlie inspired millions of young Americans to be involved in the future of their country and make their voices heard. He’d travel to college campuses around the nation to share ideas and talk about them,” he added. “And Charlie was never afraid to have a discussion. He didn’t care if you agreed or disagreed with his ideas. He welcomed the opportunity to respectfully and peacefully debate ideas in the court of public opinion.”

U.S. Rep. Jimmy Patronis (R-Fla.) introduced a resolution in the House in conjunction with Scott, and Speaker Mike Johnson announced on social media that the measure will “soon pass.”

“The House will soon pass a resolution honoring the life and legacy of our friend Charlie Kirk, and condemning the political violence that led to his untimely passing,” Johnson wrote.

The radical left responded to Kirk’s murder by smearing the Turning Point USA co-founder, calling him a racist and an evil man, and claiming the shooter was a member of the MAGA community — the alleged gunman, Tyler Robinson, 22, was in a gay relationship with a man who was reportedly “transitioning” into a woman. The vile campaign included attacks on Kirk’s widow, who’s left to raise their two young children alone.
