Candace Owens takes first shot against Macron lawsuit: Brigitte to give court scientific evidence she’s a woman

Conservative commentator Candace Owens took her first shot last Thursday against the Macrons and their defamation suit against her

As previously reported, Owens produced a documentary earlier this year containing what she alleged was proof that French First Lady Brigitte Macron was born a man. In response, the Macrons filed suit.

Owens responded last Thursday with a legal filing arguing that the Macrons’ suit is a “politically motivated” stunt designed to suppress her free speech rights, according to the Daily Mail.

“In contravention of a sacred precept of U.S. Constitutional Law, the President and First Lady of France … have filed a baseless defamation suit against an independent American journalist who broadcasts a daily news and culture show from her basement in Nashville, Tennessee,” the legal filing reads.

The filing also took note of how the Macrons filed their defamation suit in a U.S. court in Delaware instead of a French one.

“The French president and his wife cynically avoided filing their Francocentric case in their home country,” it reads. “The reason is clear: this matter is not a legitimate legal action, but rather a transparent ruse orchestrated by Plaintiffs’ high-priced public relations firm.”

“If the Macrons were serious about clearing their names or protecting their reputations, they would have filed suit in France within the applicable limitations period. But legitimate vindication of their rights has never been the Macrons’ intent,” the filing adds.

Owens is reportedly seeking to have the defamation suit dismissed for three reasons: “Lack of jurisdiction, expiration of France’s statute of limitations, and the legal doctrine of forum non conveniens – which discourages litigation in a jurisdiction that has little or no connection to the dispute.”

The latter reason has to do with the fact that Owens has no ties to Delaware at all. She’s a Tennessee girl.

“Mrs. Owens is not, and never has been, a Delaware resident,” the filing explains. “She does not and has never owned real estate in Delaware… nor has she conducted business there.”

“There are no relevant witnesses or evidence located in Delaware, nor would any substantive Delaware law apply to a defamation suit brought by the French President and First Lady against an independent Tennessee journalist,” the filing continues.

Meanwhile, a BBC report emerged this Thursday that the Macrons intend to “present photographic and scientific evidence” that Brigitte is a woman.

Speaking with the network, the Macrons’ attorney, Tom Clare, said that Brigitte found Owens’ claims to be “incredibly upsetting” and a total “distraction” to her husband, the French president.

“I don’t want to suggest that it somehow has thrown him off his game,” Clare said. “But just like anybody who is juggling a career and a family life as well, when your family is under attack, it wears on you. And he’s not immune from that because he’s the president of a country.”

Clare added that there will sometime soon be “expert testimony that will come out that will be scientific in nature,” though he declined to specify the exact timeframe for this.

“It is incredibly upsetting to think that you have to go and subject yourself to put this type of proof forward,” he continued. “It is a process that she will have to subject herself to in a very public way. But she’s willing to do it. She is firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight.”

“If that unpleasantness and that discomfort that she has of opening herself up in that way is what it takes to set a record straight and stop this, she’s 100% ready to meet that burden,” he concluded.
