A massive American flag is now being displayed on Utah Valley University’s (UVU) campus, where Charlie Kirk was fatally shot.
The Turning Point USA founder was assassinated during an outdoor speaking event at UVU on Wednesday. The university confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation that the flag was placed by the school. Following Kirk’s assassination, several individuals — many teachers and professors — are facing backlash after taking to social media to celebrate his death. Several people have been fired for saying they have “ZERO sympathy” for Kirk and suggesting he deserved to die.
Millions of people across the world have gathered for vigils mourning the loss of the conservative commentator and free speech advocate. Kirk was known for traveling to college campuses and engaging in debates with college students over hot-button issues, such as gender ideology, abortion, and race.
Utah authorities have now charged Kirk’s alleged murderer with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and committing a violent offense in the presence of a child. The 22-year-old suspect risks facing the death penalty if convicted.
