U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) is no shrinking violet, as a “protester” found out Thursday after reportedly bumping the GOP lawmaker.
The man confronted Burchett outside the Longworth House Office Building over his support for Israel in its war with Hamas terrorists, and “bumped” the Republican, according to Politico. Burchett responded to the physical contact by “forcefully shoving the man.”
Capitol Police officers “questioned” the protester after the assault, Politico reported, but said nothing of an arrest — then again, we are talking about a Republican member of Congress, so that must be taken into consideration.
“Everyone has a right to their opinion, and they can say all of the filthy stuff they want. But they don’t have the right to bump the congressman,” Burchett spokesperson Will Garrett said in a statement.
Burchett responded in an X Post on the altercation, correcting Americans for Prosperity-Tennessee Deputy Director Michael Lotfi, who reminded followers of just how tough the congressman is.
“My guy [Burchett] was literally kicked in the chest by a donkey 2 weeks ago and traveled the state with broken ribs the next day like it was nothing,” Lotfi wrote. “Wrong dude to pick a fight with. LFG, Tim!”

Burchett introduced a resolution in support of Israel last year after the United Nations put the Israeli military on a list of children’s rights abusers.
“Israel is our greatest ally in the Middle East and their leadership tries to protect life,” he said at the time. “Hamas, on the other hand, hides behind innocent civilians like a bunch of cowards. We need to make it clear to the United Nations that the United States completely supports Israel’s efforts to wipe these terrorists off the map.”
