An Israeli official charged in a Nevada pedophile sting did not appear in court did not appear in court after posting bail and returning to Israel, Nevada-based outlet 8 News Now reported Wednesday.

Tom Alexandrovich, who was charged Aug. 15 with luring a child with a computer for sex acts, did not appear in court for his Wednesday arraignment, where only his lawyer was present, according to 8 News Now. Alexandrovich is an Israeli cybersecurity expert who worked closely with the office of the Israeli prime minister and was in the U.S. for a conference at the time of the arrest.

Alexandrovich was one of eight people arrested in a sting conducted by the Las Vegas Police Department (LVPD). He posted $10,000 bail shortly after his arrest and quickly departed the country. (RELATED: Israeli Official Caught Up In Nevada Pedophile Sting Allowed To Flee Country)

Henderson Justice Court Chief Judge Barbara Schifalacqua delayed his arraignment to next week, and ordered Alexandrovich to appear virtually. However, Nevada state law allows attorneys to represent clients on their behalf, according to 8 News Now.

“Mr. Alexandrovich will appear by Zoom as permitted by the Court at his next court appearance,” Alexandrovich’s lawyers said in a statement. “He intends to pursue all his lawful rights and to vigorously defend this case in the court and not in the media.”

On Aug. 18, the State Department clarified that Alexandrovich did not claim diplomatic immunity and that “Any claims that the U.S. government intervened are false.”

Alexandrovich is accused of attempting to meet a 15-year-old girl on a messaging app for “sexual contact,” not knowing the LVPD set up a decoy to lure suspects out, according to 8 News Now.
