CNN uses 11-year-old who witnessed MN school shooting to push gun control

Daily Caller News Foundation

During a segment on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” Thursday, the outlet used 11-year-old Chloe, a witness to the Minneapolis Annunciation Catholic Church mass shooting, to advocate for more restrictions on firearms in the U.S.

A trans-identifying male, later identified as Robin Westman, opened fire Wednesday morning at the Catholic church in Minnesota, killing two children and injuring at least 17 others. While speaking with a CNN reporter about her day leading up to the shooting, the reporter in a voiceover said Chloe had “thoughts about guns in America” before the segment cut to her saying the U.S. should “ban guns.”

“I would say to ban guns. But the problem about banning guns is that it’s a problem because it’ll make people mad. Because guns are for hunting, not for hurting. It’s for hunting animals, for getting food. So it will create a lot of hate if I say to ban guns,” Chloe said. “But I would say probably to restrict everything that just happened.”

The 11-year-old went on to give advice to other students who could potentially face the same situation, telling them to “run, hide or fight.”

“Because I don’t want them to be in shock like everybody else,” Chloe added. “If they were closest to the window, I would say ‘Duck.’ Like, ‘don’t look at it, duck. Like, don’t be in shock for two seconds, go into action right away.’ But if you got hurt and you’re alive, be so grateful.”

During a press conference after the attack, officials said the alleged gunman opened fire through a window of the Annunciation Catholic Church during Mass, killing an eight-year-old and a 10-year-old. Before authorities were able to get to him, Westman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the back of the church.

In 2019, the alleged gunman changed his name from Robert to Robin, with court records showing that his mother submitted the application for the change, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune. The application said the change was necessary because Westman “identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification.” Westman’s mother works at the Annunciation Catholic Church.

Videos of the alleged gunman’s manifesto were uploaded to a YouTube account that bore Westman’s name, showing disturbing footage of multiple guns, cartridges and ammunition with cryptic statements written on them. Phrases like, “Where is your God?,” “6 million wasn’t enough,” “kill pedos” and calls to kill President Donald Trump could be seen as the cartridges were shown to the camera.

Additionally in the manifesto, Westman said he “was tired of being trans,” wishing he “never brainwashed” himself. Westman added that he only kept his long hair as it would be an “embarrassing defeat” and could potentially “be a concerning change of character that could get me reported.”

Since the shooting, Democrats and media pundits have advocated online for the Trump administration to implement more gun restrictions. Some Democrats, like former White House press secretary Jen Psaki, wrote on X that she has had “enough” of “thoughts and prayers” from Christians.
