New bodycam footage of cops and illegal trucker who killed 3 spurs new outrage

New bodycam footage is resulting in more questions than answers in the case of a migrant trucker involved in the deaths of three people.

Harjinder Singh has been hit with three counts of vehicular homicide at the state level, as well as immigration violation, after the 28-year-old was involved in a fatal illegal U-turn in Florida. Singh and his passenger were unharmed in the incident, but all of the people in the minivan struck by his trailer during the turn passed away. The horrifying news quickly made its way around social media, where many questioned the India native’s grasp on the English language. Even the Department of Homeland Security confirmed that Singh had failed the English Language Proficiency test.

“Singh only correctly answered two out of 12 verbal questions and only accurately identified one out of four highway traffic signs, DHS alleges. He also used a translator during his court appearance,” the Daily Mail reported.

New video of the suspect speaking to a New Mexico state trooper after being pulled over for a speeding violation is deepening the mystery.

Watch:

His accent is thick and it’s clear he has limited ability to communicate in English, but Singh gets through the ticketing process and is allowed to continue driving.

The fatal incident in Florida took place just over a month after the traffic stop in New Mexico, and the Department of Homeland Security is placing at least some of the blame at the feet of California Governor Gavin Newsom.

“The Trump administration says Singh entered the US illegally from Mexico in 2018 and later obtained a commercial driver’s license in California,” the Daily Mail wrote. “Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin hit out at Newsom, saying issuing a commercial license to someone in the country illegally is ‘asinine.’”

The case has even sparked a statement from Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who “threatened to pull federal funding from Washington, California and New Mexico if they continue to fail to enforce English language requirements for truckers.”
