‘Love affair with illegal aliens that’s killing people’: Florida AG floats holding CA accountable for deadly driver

Daily Caller News Foundation

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said Thursday on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” that the state is considering action against California and other parties in connection with illegal immigrant Harjinder Singh allegedly killing three people with his big rig.

Singh, an Indian national, was returned to Florida on Thursday after fleeing to California, where he obtained a commercial driver’s license (CDL) despite his immigration status. Discussing the charges already brought forward by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Fox’s Laura Ingraham asked Uthmeier what would happen to Singh now that he’s back in Florida.

“Yeah, so he’s back in Florida. We’re gonna prosecute him to the fullest,” Uthmeier said. “He’s already been charged with vehicular homicide at a minimum. He’s looking to spend several decades behind bars, and we hope this will be a lesson to other illegal aliens like him. Your licenses are not valid in this state. We will punish you to the fullest.”

“Gavin Newsom, he’s got a love affair with illegal aliens that’s killing people. So we’re gonna look to hold others accountable. Maybe the state of California, maybe the company that wrongly provided this license, not only to an illegal alien, but somebody that can’t even speak English,” Uthmeier added.

The DHS officially charged Singh on Monday with three counts of vehicular homicide after three people died when he made an illegal U-turn in his big rig on the state’s Turnpike near Port St. Lucie. On Aug. 12, Singh allegedly made the U-turn through an “Official Use Only” access point in St. Lucie County, ultimately blocking the lanes with his truck.

Video footage posted online prior to the charges show Singh and another individual in his truck attempting the illegal U-turn, with a black car plowing into Singh’s truck, which appeared to be blocking the lanes. A day after the incident occurred, Singh and another individual flew from Florida to Sacramento, with an arrest warrant issued for the illegal immigrant on Aug. 15.

According to an investigation conducted by Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, in coordination with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Singh illegally entered the U.S. in 2018 through the U.S.-Mexico border, later obtaining his CDL in California.

Questions have been brought forward by the Trump administration on how Singh was able to obtain the CDL as investigators have determined that Singh has very limited knowledge of both the English language and American road signs.

According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Singh failed an English Language Proficiency assessment, providing only two correct responses out of 12 verbal questions and correctly identifying just one of four highway traffic signs.

With the DHS calling out Newsom and his state for putting “Americans’ lives directly at risk,” the Democrat governor’s office pushed back, telling the Daily Caller News Foundation that Singh received his “federally issued work permit” under President Donald Trump.

“He would have been eligible in any state. California followed federal law, something the President knows nothing about,” Newsom’s spokesperson said.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced Thursday on X that all worker visas for commercial truck drivers are paused, effective immediately.
