Border czar Tom Homan ridiculed Democrat Illinois Rep. Delia Ramirez on Wednesday for declaring her allegiance to Guatemala over the U.S. during an anti-American summit abroad.
Ramirez proudly stated in Spanish that she is a “proud Guatemalan before [she is] an American” during the summit located in Mexico City that several far-left lawmakers attended. Homan told reporters outside of the White House that her remarks are “disgusting” and a betrayal of her constituents who elected her to represent them.
“I think what she said was disgusting. I mean, she’s a sitting U.S. congresswoman and a citizen of this country,” Homan said. “She’s serving at the privilege of her state; her voters put her in there. So I think her commitment should be to her state and the people who put her in that position. That should be her constituency. And I think what she said there was, in a veiled way, supporting illegal aliens from Guatemala coming over here.”

Homan further assured that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will not stop its mass deportation efforts until it removes “every illegal alien from Guatemala” and other countries are removed from the U.S.
“What she needs to know is ICE is deporting thousands of nationals of Guatemala every week, and we’re going to continue that until every illegal alien from Guatemala is removed from this country. That’s what the people voted for, and that’s what we’re going to do. It’s unfortunate that she said that. It’s ridiculous,” Homan continued.
Ramirez and other left-wing lawmakers, such as Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan attended the second annual Pan-American Congress to challenge U.S. global dominance. The Illinois congresswoman, whose parents illegally entered the U.S. from Guatemala, accused the U.S. of being “addicted to war” and of prioritizing “imperialism, militarization, conquest, control, competition in its attempt at domination.”
Ramirez’s husband is also an illegal immigrant, prompting her website to tout that she is the only congresswoman in a “mixed-status marriage.”
The congresswoman’s remarks led Republican Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles to call for her denaturalization and deportation in a statement on X Monday.
“Denaturalize, deport, and kick her off [the] Homeland Committee. We know where her allegiances lie,” Ogles said.
Omar has appeared to prioritize her home country of Somalia over the U.S. Footage of her speech from January 2024 shows her telling a largely Somalian audience that she is in Congress to represent Somali Americans’ interests and that the “U.S. will do what we want and nothing else.”
Republican Texas Rep. Brandon Gill began a petition in February to deport Omar after she posted a video seemingly advising illegal Somali immigrants how to evade President Donald Trump’s deportation policies.
