Candace Owens clashes with Megyn Kelly over Brigitte Macron ‘penis’ claim

Commentator Candace Owens got into it with fellow commentator Megyn Kelly this week after Kelly threw some criticism her way.

Owens recently produced a documentary containing what she has alleged is proof that French First Lady Brigitte Macron was born a man. In response, Macron filed a defamation suit against her.

During Tuesday’s episode of Kelly’s podcast, the former Fox News host discussed the defamation suit with lawyer Mark Eiglarsh, who predicted that Owens’ documentary is “close to the [defamation] line, if not over it.”

Kelly, meanwhile, said she hasn’t watched the documentary but that her “producers watched it, and they did tell me — and they have nothing against Candace — but they did say that it’s thin, and it’s disjointed, and it is hard to follow at times.”

Kelly proceeded to suggest Owens is a conspiracy theorist.

“It sounds a lot like conspiracy,” she said of Owens’ documentary. “Some of the conspiracies that we’ve criticized in the past have come true. I don’t know whether this will be one of them, but I don’t totally get it.”

As proof, Kelly cited “pictures of Brigitte Macron through childhood” that Owens was presented with by the Macrons’ lawyers “before they filed the [defamation suit].”

“This was all given to Candace before they filed the lawsuit in this December retraction demand, and she didn’t [retract],” Kelly said. “And I think the worst case scenario for Candace is she didn’t because she doesn’t believe that, okay? So is that defamation?”

“And let’s go for the nastiest possible interpretation of what she’s done. She’s a conspiracy theorist who got twisted up on this Macron thing, and it’s not true, and she refuses to see reason. I’m not sure that’s reckless disregard. That’s the worst-case scenario,” she added.

Owens didn’t appear to appreciate the remarks. In a since-deleted tweet, she blasted Kelly for always being “on the wrong side of every issue.”

“From transgenderism to Covid, @megynkelly has consistently been on the wrong side of every issue,” she wrote. “She thinks she’s smarter than her audience but she isn’t. She is being destroyed in her own comment section for trying to do a hit piece on me in defense of Brigitte Macron.”

“Discussing a series while consciously choosing not to show even one minute from that series while also admitting that you never watched it makes you a coward at best. At worst, an unwitting defender of an orbit of pedophiles,” she added.

Kelly responded shortly thereafter with the following tweet:

The feud then abruptly ended with Owens deleting her original tweet and posting a new one backing off what she’d originally written.

“Deleting an earlier tweet about @megynkelly,” her new tweet reads. “Not fair for me to snipe at her because I’m frustrated with the mainstream media when it comes to covering the Macrons. Also not fair to expect someone to watch 5 hours of a series to prepare for a legal segment of their show.”

Kelly subsequently had the final word:

All this comes months after a rumor emerged that Candace Owens signed a $700 million deal with CBS for a show designed to compete with ABC’s “The View.”

CBS, for its part, staunchly denied the rumor.

“This report is not true,” Samantha Graham, the vice president of communications for CBS News and CBS Mornings, wrote in an email to Reuters.

In fact, it turned out the rumor originated with a Facebook post that was based on parody material from a satirical website.
